Less than 40 venues now remain from Luton’s once great pub scene. But which ones have decided to reopen for outside service next week?

Pubs confirmed to reopen their beer gardens on Monday, April 12, are:

> The Globe, Union Street;

> The Castle Tavern, Castle Street;

> The Crown, George Street;

> The White House, St George’s Square;

> The Sportman, Hitchin Road;

> The Biscot Mill, Biscot Road;

> The Bird & Bush, Bushmead;

> The Sugar Loaf, New Town;

> The Chequers, Park Street;

> The Phoenix, Kelvin Close;

> The Chequers, Caddington;

> The Lilley Arms, Lilley;

> King William IV, Mangrove Green, Cockernhoe;

> The Barrels, Stopsley (from April 15);

> The White Horse, Tea Green (from April 15).

In nearby Dunstable and Houghton Regis, beer gardens opening on April 12 include:

> The Gary Cooper, Dunstable;

> The White Lion, Dunstable;

> The White Swan Inn, Dunstable;

> The Market Cross, Dunstable;

> The Old Sugar Loaf, Dunstable;

> The Chequers, Houghton Regis.

The Brewery Tap today announced it would not reopen next Monday, despite having one of the largest beer gardens in Luton town centre. In a message to customers, the pub stated: “We have made the difficult decision not to open The Tap, Luton on April 12.

“Our main priority is you, our customers and your safety. As a business we pride ourselves on delivering the best customer experience as possible and with current government guidelines, we feel it will restrict us from doing so. We will keep you all updated as to when we open but for now please stay safe and we will see you all again soon. Luv, The Tap x.”

A number of Luton pubs have confirmed they will reopen on May 17, when indoor table service can resume for groups of up to six people.

Pubs reopening on May 17 include:

> The Red Lion, George Street;

> Off The Wall, Park Street;

> The Bricklayers Arms, High Town Road;

> The Painters Arms, High Town Road;

> The George II, Bute Street;

> The Jolly Topers, Round Green;

> The Great Northern, Bute Street;

> O’Shea’s, Castle Street;

> The Hansom Cab, Wigmore Lane;

> The Jolly Milliner, Icknield Way;

> The Nag's Head, Dunstable (expected in May).

Sizzlers' two pubs in Luton - the Leicester Arms and Wigmore Arms - are also tipped to reopen by May 17, as are the town's three beefeater pubs at The Brache, the Warden and Halfway House.
