Children across Luton donned their best costumes and themed outfits to mark World Book Day today (March 7).
The day was first celebrated in the UK over 25 years ago, and is recognised in over 100 countries around the world. Each child in full-time education gets a token to spend on books, encouraging them to discover the love of reading.
Luton South MP, Rachel Hopkins MP visited a community book store, Brown Books, in High Town to celebrate World Book Day. She met with Mariana Brown from Brown Books and Luton Literature, alongside pupils from St Matthews Primary School. Rachel said: “I am delighted to support Brown Books, an excellent community bookshop in Luton South. On my visit, it was lovely to meet pupils from St Matthews Primary School who are celebrating World Book Day today and hear about why they love reading!”
