Police appeal for help to find missing woman

Police are searching for a missing woman who appears to have become confused after flying in from Poland to see her family in England and has disappeared.

Julia Losik, aged 59, flew to Luton Airport from Katowice Airport in Poland last Thursday, (Sept 20) early in the morning.

However, in a complete departure from her normal routine, she did not tell her London-based son of her intended visit and he was completely unaware of her arrival until three days later when in a routine family call, he discovered that his mother had flown to the UK.

He made enquiries with Polish police, and discovered his mum had driven to the airport but left her mobile phone in the car. Katowice Airport security had become concerned about her as she seemed to be confused or unwell – however she did get on the Wizzair flight to Luton, arriving at Luton at 7.08am.

With neither end of the family knowing where Julia is, coupled with health concerns prompted by her recently showing signs of confusion and hallucination, her son reported her missing in this country.

Once the matter had been reported to Bedfordshire Police, enquiries with the airport showed Julia had arrived and got through immigration, but seems to have been very confused and wandering about in the public part of the airport. CCTV footage shows her walking to and fro, trying to sit down and without her luggage.

The usual contact has been made with other emergency services/hospitals, but so far has drawn a blank.

She seems to have spent around five hours in the airport terminal, during which time she appears to have lost her coat and bag. In combing the vast amount of CCTV film, officers this morning (Thurs 27 Sept) have found images of what looks like Julia getting on a Green Line bus outside the airport. Enquiries are on-going, and officers hope that someone will remember seeing Julia or talking to her, or may know where she is now.

She is described as being 4ft 11ins tall, slim, with short blond wavy hair. Julia speaks good English, as she has previously lived in Cornwall, working with elderly people.

If anyone can help, please contact the Bedfordshire Police Missing Person Unit on the non-emergency phone number 101.
