Police stop large disorder in Bury Park after complaints of Covid breach
Beds Police responded to a large disorder in Bury Park on Wednesday night amid complaints that Covid guidelines weren't being followed.
Footage has been circulated on social media showing the incident in Dunstable Road, which is understood not to have been violent.
Chief Inspector Jamie Langwith, from Bedfordshire Police’s Luton community policing team, said: “We received a number of reports from around 10.45pm on Wednesday (12 May) about anti-social behaviour in Dunstable Road, Luton.
“Officers attended in order to monitor the situation and crowds began to leave the area as the night wore on. We received no reports of any injuries.
“Although restrictions are due to ease again shortly, Covid infection rates still remain high in some parts of Bedfordshire, so we are encouraging people not to become complacent and risk undermining what we’ve achieved so far.
“We know the vast majority of our residents are playing their part and sticking to the rules and would urge people to continue to remember hands, face, space and help us continue to keep Bedfordshire safe.”
