Houghton Regis sports ground could get new bar and pergola after plans submitted

A sports pavilion in Houghton Regis may soon have a new bar and pergola outside if latest plans are approved.

Moore Crescent Sports Ground is looking to convert one of its storage areas and extend it – turning it into a bar for the clubroom.

The design and access statement for the planning application stated: “Currently the kitchen is very cramped, making it difficult and sometimes dangerous to prepare meals for the users of the facilities.”

A timber pergola is also being proposed on the corner of the site, opposite the bowling green to “allow players and supporters to watch the games out of full sun”.

The pavilion was built in 2010 and serves both the bowling green onsite and football pitches on the adjoining Houghton Hall Park.

A council decision on this matter is expected on August 5.
