Voters go to the polls in Dunstable by-election tomorrow
Voters go to the polls in Dunstable West ward tomorrow, (Thursday, February 19) after a vacancy arose on the town council to prompt a by-election.
There will be six candidates contesting the seat on the local authority. They are Gloria Martin (Conservative), Stewart Mitchelmore (Green Party), Shaun Moulster (Reform UK), Bernie Naughton (Dunstable Independents), Patrick Obuseh (Labour) and Elizabeth Owen (Liberal Democrat).
The vacancy arose following the resignation from the town council of three-time former mayor Liz Jones in December.
Five vacant seats on the town council for Dunstable West ward were contested at the May 2023 local elections, and Ms Jones topped the poll with 930 votes. Polling booths will be open from 7am until 10pm.
