Voters head to the polls tomorrow for Dunstable East by-election

A by-election is being held in Dunstable’s East ward tomorrow (Thursday, May 14) to fill a vacancy on the town council.

Voters are due to go to the polls after former town mayor Louise O’Riordan was removed from the local authority, having cited medical reasons for not attending meetings for six months.

Steven Collins is the Reform UK candidate, Gloria Martin is standing for the Conservative Party and Stewart Mitchelmore represents the Green Party.

Patrick Obuseh is standing for the Labour Party, Leona Sydney contests for the Dunstable Independents, and Sue Thorne represents the Liberal Democrats.

Voting is due to take place tomorrow between 7am and 10pm. Five candidates were elected for the ward at the local elections in May 2023, when there was a 26 per cent turnout of an electorate of 7,559.
