Former Central Bedfordshire councillor to stand trial next year

A trial date has been set next year for a former Central Bedfordshire councillor.

Richard Stay represented Caddington ward on Central Bedfordshire Council until stepping down in the May 2019 local election.

Mr Stay appeared at Guildford Crown Court on Monday, November 16, on one count of committing an act with intent to pervert the course of public justice.

He has maintained a plea of not guilty and has a mention hearing on January 18 next year.

A provisional trial date has also been listed for November 1, 2021.

Mr Stay has been granted unconditional bail until the above dates.
