Rachel Hopkins MP has raised the issue of Luton train station’s condition in the House of Commons before, and yesterday (September 11), she asked Sir Keir Starmer how Labour’s railway plan would ensure that her “constituents get the service they deserve”.
The MP said: “I welcome the government’s swift action to bring railways back into public ownership. Great British Railways will deliver much needed reform ensuring the network serves both passengers and rail freight effectively."

"I know how vital that will be in relation to both Luton and Leagrave stations in her constituency.”
He added: “We're committed to ensuring our railways will be open to everyone.”
Ms Hopkins has been vocal about the need for step-free access at the station in the town centre. And last year, she invited the former Rail Minister to Luton Station to see it first hand and campaigned to keep the ticket office open.

Rachel Hopkins MP says: “Under the Conservatives people across Luton South & South Bedfordshire were let down by unreliable and inefficient train services, alongside crumbling railway infrastructure - including a long wait for accessibility improvements at Luton Station. “I am pleased the Prime Minister recognises the vital need for infrastructure improvements at Luton Station. “I am proud to support Labour’s plan to get our railways back on track. With Great British Railways, Labour will end the deepening crisis and chaos that passengers in Luton South and South Bedfordshire and across the country have been forced to endure. Delivering reliable, accessible, and affordable train services, no matter where you live.”
