The by-election was called after Liberal Democrat councillor Alan Skepelhorn failed to attend council meetings for six months.

Those eligible to vote are urged to register before March 17. It takes around five minutes and can be completed online here.

Applications to vote by post must be submitted by 5pm on March 18. The deadline to apply for a proxy vote is 5pm on March 25.

Voters also need to show photo ID at polling stations.

Mark Fowler, returning officer, said: “This by-election gives eligible electors in Wigmore the opportunity to vote for a ward councillor to represent them. We encourage all residents who are entitled to vote to make sure they are registered and to be aware of the key deadlines. Taking part in elections is an important way for people to have their say on who represents their local area.”
