Post-mortem to be carried out on severed head
A post-mortem will be carried out later this morning on a human head which was found at a quarry in Cambridgeshire.
And police have said they are “keeping an open mind” about whether the remains may be linked to the disappearance of Natalie Hemming, a Milton Keynes woman, last seen in Hemel Hempstead, whose partner has been arrested and charged with murder.
Detective Inspector Jerry Waite, from the major crime unit, said: “We are conducting enquiries both locally and across the county borders, and would urge anyone with information about the finding to contact us.
“Officers have been carrying out searches at a construction site in Mill Road, Sharnbrook in Bedfordshire, as we believe this is where the remains may have come from.”
Anyone with information is asked to call the Major Crime Unit on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
