Praise for Active Luton

Sports and leisure trust Active Luton has been recognised for its work in helping people to take small steps to better health.

At an event on November 21, the National Charity Partnership – a partnership between the British Heart Foundation, Diabetes UK and Tesco – praised the trust’s innovative two-year programme to help people look after their wellbeing by becoming more active.

The National Charity Partnership, established by Tesco in 2014, has been working with Active Luton since 2015, funding Health Walks to inspire residents to make the most of parks and open spaces to get active.

Speaking at the event at Stockwood Park Athletics Centre, Matthew McKee, prevention programme manager for the partnership, said: “We are proud to recognise the work that Active Luton has delivered to encourage more people to get active, look after their health and make the most of the free activities on offer in the local area.”

More than 500 residents have taken part in the Health Walks over the past two years.
