The BBC charity has made a grant of £112,057 to Relate Bedfordshire and Luton to provide counselling.

Since 2013 the project has benefitted from funding to help young people improve family relationships and increase their wellbeing while helping them build resilience for the future.

Families First Bedfordshire has also been awarded £119,773 to offer play therapy and one-to-one support for children affected by domestic violence and experiencing challenging childhoods.

BBC spokeswoman Melinda Connelly said: “All the projects we fund make a tangible difference to young lives,”

BBC Children in Need funds two types of grants, both of which are open to new applicants.

One includes grants up to and including £10,000, supporting projects for one year, while the other is for over £10,000 a year for projects for up to three years.
