Return flights for easyJet’s high milestone

One lucky couple were awarded free tickets as Luton-based airline easyJet celebrated its 80 millionth passenger.

Jack Jessee and Kaitlyn Potter, both students from London, had free return flights to Amsterdam, courtesy of the low cost airline which now offers 51 routes from the airport.

Amsterdam was one of its first destinations when it started 20 years ago.

Commercial manager Neil Slaven said: “We’ve come a long way since the launch of our first flight in November 1995. We now carry five million passengers a year to and from Luton to a range of business and pleasure destinations.”

The airpoirt’s head of business development, Simon Harley, said: “It’s a fantastic achievement and comes at a time when the airport is celebrating record passenger numbers and is on track for its busiest year ever.”

Luton South MP Gavin Shuker added: “I’m delighted easyJet has reached this incredible milestone.

“They’ve not only put Luton on the map, but they’ve provided hundreds of jobs.”
