A robber who raided the home of a doctor and his opera singer wife has been arrested after fleeing to Luton.

Kevin Williams, 59, absconded in October and was convicted in his absence last week for his part in the burglary on February 16.

Williams, of Hitchin, and his brother Daren Richardson had subjected housesitters at the address in Shaws Way, Rochester, to a terrifying ordeal after bursting in wearing masks and tying them up before making off with a haul of jewellery.

Richardson’s partner Tracey Clark had previously worked at the house of Dr Dudley Hubbard and wife Christine as a cleaner. She has since died from an illness.

At the end of the trial last week, the judge adjourned sentencing until Williams was caught. After his arrest yesterday, he was remanded in custody and will appear for sentencing at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday, December 21.
