‘Scam’ claim over easyBus tickets

AN angry passenger at Luton Airport has branded easyBus’s ticket policy ‘a scam’.

Ben Judah travelled on the Green Line coach service 757 from Luton Airport to Central London and was stunned to discover that his fellow passengers had been forced to pay for their £15 tickets twice.

EasyBus, who sell tickets online for this service, have a policy which gives passengers a one hour grace period to use their advance tickets before they must purchase a new one.

Mr Judah said: “Given the unpredictability of flight delays, this policy is manifestly unfair.

“Three passengers on my bus were unable to board the service specified on their e-tickets because they had arrived at Luton on flights which had been delayed.

“I myself arrived on a flight that had been delayed by 90 minutes and would have been in the same position as these other passengers had I purchased an e-ticket in advance. Some flights are delayed for two or three hours or more.

“One couple had a vehement row with the driver of the bus who wasn’t being very polite.

“They gave up in the end and just shelled out as it was 1am and everyone just wanted to get home.

“It’s ridiculous, it’s a scam for making more money.”

An easyBus spokesman said: “I am sorry to hear that a customer has complained about the service we offer.

“On our internet booking site we recommend that passengers book a service at least 40 minutes after their scheduled flight arrival time.

“The ‘window’ for travel is therefore one hour 40 minutes.

“The easyBus ticket desk staff have discretion to allow some addtional latitude where we are able and feel it appropriate.”

The easyBus website says: “Book airport transfers fast and easily online to guarantee your bus and coach seat... The easyBus objective is to provide you with a ‘value for money’ alternative.”
