Scarecrows set to invade Flamstead

The event has become one of the summer’s ‘must see’ occasions and runs from 12 noon on Friday, August 21 to 5pm on Sunday, August 23.

More than 100 amazing examples of hay men (and women) created by local people will be on display to raise money for charity.

The proceeds are split between St Leonard’s Church in Flamstead and Herts MS Therapy Centre in Letchworth. To date the event has raised £100,000.

This year there’s an even closer connection between the two beneficiaries – the vicar’s mother attends the Centre regularly for personal training.

Community fundraiser Patricia Saunders, who’s helping to organise the event, said: “In addition to the scarecrows there will be stalls, activities and entertainment.

“It really is a great day out for the family. You can vote for your favourite scarecrow, there’s free parking and a bus to take less able-bodied visitors around the trail.”

It has a hyperbaric oxygen chamber as well as a fully equipped gym and therapy rooms.
