Shop workers threatened with hammer in armed raid at Barton-le-Clay

Shop workers were threatened with a hammer in an armed raid at Barton-le-Clay last week.

The shocking incident unfolded as two men with their faces covered entered Martin’s newsagents in Bedford Road, Barton-le-Clay at around 9.25pm on Thursday 22 October.

They threatened the shop workers with a hammer before making off with money from the till and cigarettes.

The first offender is described as white, aged around 20, 5’3” and wearing a hooded top with the hood up. He was wearing a mask covering his face.

The second man was white, around 5’4”, medium build and was wearing a light coloured zip up hooded top, with the hood up. He had a dark scarf covering his face.

PC Maureen Ude, investigating, said: “This was a terrifying ordeal and we urge anyone with any information which could assist our investigation to come forward.

“This nasty crime is a priority for the force and we need help in finding those responsible, to protect the public and prevent further incidents.”
