Signposts and The Rotary Club of Luton organised a one mile race on Sunday to support Claire Kenney at the London Marathon. The event at Wardown Park saw 27 people each run one mile to support the mother of two who was running 26 miles in London to raise money for Signposts. Claire said: “I know about the great work that Luton Signposts do and I am very keen to fundraise for a charity that transforms outcomes for so many people.”
Kevin Porter, CEO of Signposts, said: “What a brilliant day, thank you to Claire and the one mile team, this is an amazing amount of money and will make a real difference to those Signposts supports.” The 42-year-old completed the marathon in just under three and a half hours and she raised just under £6000. The winners at the one mile race were Chenz Elderton with a time of 5 minutes and 55 seconds, Harry Oliver came second and Dan Brown came third.
Arriva’s Jimmy Rainey raised the most amount of sponsorship with a total of £498.
