Soaring success of air ambulance event

A FUND-RAISING event held in the garden of an Eaton Bray home has boosted vital funds for the air ambulance by more than £4,500.

Pete and Ronnie Farrar threw open their Bower Lane home to host a hog roast accompanied by music from The Cadillac Blues Band. At the end of the day Paul Airton from the Air Ambulance Service, handed over a commemorative picture of one of their helicopters, in recognition of the couple’s success in raising a total of £4619.74 for the charity.

Said Pete: “Thanks to the extreme generosity of the people of our area, the sponsors, The Cadillac Blues Band and all the people who helped before and during the event. The Eaton Bray and Edlesborough Lions organised the car parking while Cross Keys farm at Dagnall provided the superb hog roast.”

A grand draw raffle, with more than £1500 worth of prizes, all donated free of charge, proved very popular and helped towards the final total raised.

Added Pete: “Our thanks go to all of you who helped us in any way and to all of you who came and supported such a worthy cause. Many people do not realise that the Air Ambulance receives no money whatsoever from the government, local authorities or the Lottery, but costs more than £1,000 for each mission!”

The Cadillac Blues Band will next be playing in Eaton Bray on November 24 at the Church Lane village hall.
