Luton is hosting a family fun day on Sunday, April 26, to celebrate St George’s Day.
The free entertainment will take place in St George’s Square, from 11am till 4pm.
There will be a children’s craft marquee, a maypole dancing workshop, a Punch and Judy show, a children’s magician, a live band, stilt walking, face painting, Morris dancers and water zorbing.
The Hip Hop Shakespeare Company will be delivering workshops, as Shakespeare’s birthday was also on the same day as St George’s day, April 23.
Fairground attractions will also be in the square, but there will be a charge for these.
Pam Garraway, the council’s corporate director for housing and community living, said: “It is great for local people to get together to celebrate our patron saint.
“Facts about St George’s life have passed through the centuries in legend and myth.
“His story is an interesting part of our heritage and I am sure that this event will give everyone young and older the opportunity to have a good day celebrating it.
