Opposition to 2,000 new homes proposed for Green Belt east of Luton is gathering momentum.
There will be a meeting on Tuesday (January 20) at Cockernhoe Memorial Hall in a growing campaign to stop the development around Cockernhoe, Mangrove Green, Tea Green and Wandon End.
North Herts District councillor David Barnard said: “This is particularly relevant to Stopsley, Wigmore and airport area residents.
“Both Crawley Green Road and Eaton Green Road are already gridlocked and cannot be improved or widened due to housing on each side. So how will vehicles – especially emergency vehicles – access critical areas?”
He suggests the west of Luton is a more viable proposition and urges those involved to put their objections in writing.
Offley Parish Council clerk David Sample has also called for forceful oppositon to North Herts Local Plan 2011 - 2031.
He said: “No matter where you live, this unnecessary development will affect your life.”
