Store helps church make a difference in Lewsey Farm

The church worked with local schools to find out which families in the area needed help this winter.

The St Dominic’s Square convenience store donated £250 from it’s Making A Difference Locally Fund to the church for the food hampers.

Joe Pienaar, vicar, St Hugh’s Church, said: “Thanks to the donation from Molly’s supermarket, St Hugh’s Church have been able to provide 30 hampers to the families who are most in need in Lewsey Farm.

“The hampers have been given through Level Trust charity coordinating with family workers in all the local primary schools.

“Many families struggle after Christmas and this has been a great support to all who have received one.”

Making A Difference Locally is a charity that was launched by Nisa to help independent retailers donate money to their local communities.

The money is raised through the sale of specific products by retailers in their stores.

Scott Jell, store manager, said: “We have a good relationship with St Hugh’s Church who have been running a food bank.

“We spoke with Joe and thought the food bank they were running was a great idea as it worked with schools to help those families in need.”
