Support this ‘virtual’ Race for Life

CANCER is the disease that robbed reporter Bev Creagh of her husband and mother, as well as countless friends and other family members.

It also took the life of Toddington mum Maggie Thomas who lost her brave fight in February, leaving behind a heartbroken husband and six children under 10.

Bev (pictured above renewing her wedding vows with her late husband Richard shortly before he died) is asking family, friends and colleagues to support her in a ‘virtual’ Race for Life this year.

She’ll be in Australia instead of Stockwood Park, walking along the beach on Australia’s Gold Coast with an old school chum who’s been undergoing punishing chemotherapy in a bid to beat myeloma.

She says: “I promised him I’d go to Oz if he couldn’t make our reunion in February – so that’s what I’m doing.

“I’m hoping we’ll be able to complete 5km together, even though the treatment has left him quite weak.

“And I’ll be thinking of all the women in Luton who will be taking part and raising money for the cause that is so close to our hearts.”
