The first takes place at Bury Park Community Centre from 1.30pm to 4.30pm on Wednesday, May 18.

Staff and volunteers will be on hand to advise the help and support available. There will be an opportunity to talk to a consultant psychiatrist from the Luton & Dunstable Hospital and to meet other families with experience of the condition.

The second will he held at Hope Church Centre on Villa Road from 2pm to 4pmon Friday, May 20.

This will feature tea, cake, music, dance, singing and poetry, as well as help and advice for those with dementia and their carers and anyone who would like to learn more.

Spokeswoman Connie Sharp said: “We’d love to see as many people as possible join us.

“We hope that by openly talking about dementia we can tackle the many myths and misunderstandings surrounding the condition and get across that life doesn’t end when dementia begins.
“The sooner you face up to dementia by coming to us for information and support, the sooner you can get the right treatment, support and advice on how to tackle it.

She added: “Alzheimer’s Society is here for anyone affected by dementia and there are lots of ways we can help you. Visit alzheimers.org.uk/DAW or call our national helpline on 0300 222 1122.”
