Take precautions this Bank Holiday

The Trust saw an increase in 999 calls over Easter, and wish to remind residents to consider other options before making an emergency call, so that everyone can receive the correct medical treatment.

With two bank holidays in May and fine weather expected to bring people to the coast and other tourist traps, people are being encouraged to look after themselves and others.

As part of the Trust’s ‘Right Call’ initiative, non-emergency callers will be dealt with by trained call handlers who will advise the best course of action for the patient.

Nick Morton of the ambulance service said: “If people are going away, a little forward planning can help their break run smoothly.

“We want to ensure people have kept their medicines topped up and their prescriptions up to date.

“Take sensible precautions during the sunny weather by wearing a high factor sun cream and sheltering from the sun when possible.
