Take the Fastathon challenge to help the hungry in Luton

Half of Luton’s children are suffering from poverty, with hundreds of families going hungry, according to Luton Food Bank.

To help raise funds for the Food Bank, Discover Islam centre is encouraging people to take up the fastathon challenge tomorrow (July 25).

The Fastathon Challenge 2013 involves skipping lunch and donating your lunch money (£3 or more) to Luton Food Bank.

Discover Islam Luton centre manager Saif Islam said: “In the best tradition of the Lutonian spirit, Discover Islam and Luton Food Bank are responding positively to the shocking statistics to ensure no one goes hungry in Luton. Please share the fastathon challenge with all your friends and family for them to take up the challenge.”

There will be a community presentation and dinner on the evening of July 25, starting at 8.30 pm at the Discover Islam centre.

To enter, email contact@discover-islam.org.uk before tomorrow to say you are taking part. Then donate your lunch money at https://www.justgiving.com/lutonfoodbank1

Please state that your donation is part of the fastathon challenge 2013 on the justgiving page. Alternatively you can drop in cash or a cheque at the Discover Islam centre, 37c Upper George Street, Luton, LU1 2RD. Discover Islam Centre will pass on the donation to Luton Food Bank.
