Tears and laughter at book launch

The beautifully produced memento records the life of the charity from its earliest beginnings to the present day.

It was commissioned and underwritten by long time benefactor Lady Valerie Dixon, who was presented with a special numbered edition by chief executive Mike Keel.

It tells the often funny, sometimes heartbreaking and always inspiring stories of the hundreds of people who have been involved with the hospice – from founder Dr ‘Wink’ White and his wife Iris to the charity’s dedicated band of staff and volunteers, as well as the patients and families they care for with such commitment and devotion.

Guests included generous supporters Dennis Keech and his wife Shirley and the new High Sheriff of Bedfordshire, Jack Sapsworth, and his wife Lyn.

The book was a labour of love for fundraising director Jacqui Shepherd and her team.
