Giving evidence at Luton Magistrates Court, Mrs Bains was tearful as she described injuries to her leg caused by the assault.

She said: “I asked him to sit and wait on a sofa but he didn’t want to get off my desk. He was getting annoyed.

“I was going to get my phone and then he flung it towards me. It just missed me and then like a mother, I said, ‘Who do you think you are’.”

Mrs Bains said a raging Asamoah confronted other staff coming to her aid .

She said: “I was petrified by then ... I stepped back from my desk. I thought he was going to kill me.

“I went forward, thinking my staff were getting hurt. I put my hands up because I thought he was going to hit my face.

“He literally lifted me and threw me. I turned and hit the table on the side of my leg. I was shouting, ‘Call the police’.”

Mrs Bains said 10 calls were made to police but no officers attended.

She explained Asamoah had shared a tenancy on a house on Tavistock Street but the house had been left damaged, with three other tenants in arrears.

After denying the charge Asamoah was found guilty by magistrates of the attack upon Mrs Bains. He was sentenced to 80 hours unpaid work and £285 costs in total.
