Thief attacks Luton driver and steals car '˜in broad daylight'

A driver was injured fighting off a thief who stole his car on Saturday.

The man was walking to his car in Frederick Street at around 9.30am when he spotted a thief trying to steal his car.

A fight then broke out between the pair, leaving the man with serious injuries.

The thief was able to get in the victim’s car and drove away in the direction of Havelock Road.

PC Katy Watts said: “This was a nasty attack in broad daylight which left the victim in hospital with serious injuries, and we believe the offender may have run over the victim in his own car.

“I’m appealing for anyone who witnessed the altercation, or who saw the offender drive away from the scene, to contact me.”

The car was a black Mercedes E20, with registration number CA56 NJK.
