Three workers clock up 120 years' service

A trio of workers at a Luton timber and building merchant are celebrating long service milestones, clocking up a phenomenal 120 years between them.

They are Gibbs & Dandy salesman Fred Willis, electrical contracts manager Kevin Draper and electrical team leader Stuart Pennels who have worked at the branch for 50, 40 and 30 years respectively – and who show no signs of slowing down.

Branch director Kevin Forder said: “Fred has served the company for an incredible half century since joining us way back in 1966.

“He’s very popular with our regulars and has a brilliantly dry sense of humour.

“Kevin originally started as a temp but decided he loved it so much he couldn’t leave and is still with us after 40 years. He is a very well-known and respected figure in the electrical industry.

“Stuart is the ‘baby’ of the three and is another great asset in terms of being very knowledgeable and well respected by customers and staff alike.”
