Thugs attack shopworker in Luton Co-op store raid

Police are hunting three thugs who attacked a shopworker during a robbery at a Luton Co-op store.

The raid took place at the store in Market Square in Farley Hill at 7.10am yesterday (Sunday).

The thugs stole cash, stamps, cigarettes and alcohol, as well as assaulting one member of staff.

All three made off along a pathway by the children’s park, before running left onto Ross Close.

The first man was wearing Nike tracksuit bottoms, had his face covered and was wearing a coat with the hood up.

The second man had a black rucksack with distinctive white lines on the straps. He was wearing a navy blue padded coat and dark trousers and blue Adidas trainers.

The third man was carrying a black holdall with a red Adidas emblem. He was wearing a black jacket with white stripes down the sides and a red emblem on the left hand side. He was wearing grey bottoms.

PC Sally Chambers said: “This was a nasty incident in which a member of staff was assaulted.

“I would urge anyone who saw where the offenders went or has any information to call police.”
