SLIDESHOW: Hail storms and flooding hit Luton

Heavy rain hit Luton at lunch time today, with some parts of the town experiencing a hail storm.

Dunstable Road and Mancroft Road in Dunstable were flooded, and the road turning off the A5 into Kensworth by the Pack Horse pub was closed due to flooding.

After a particularly loud thunder clap, Richard Gottfried said on Twitter: “First [thunder] of the new year. It looks like its been snowing in Leagrave with all the hail that settled! #weather #Luton”

Cllr Yaqub Hanif ‏said: “It was awesome. Its like it was Thor himself banging his hammer!” whilst Nicky Manix said: “I have glorious sunshine streaming through my study window in round green - my 1st thought was plane crash until I realised.”
