Tributes to cyclist killed in A6 collision

A member of Bedfordshire Police staff died after he was involved in a collision with a car on the A6 at Barton.

Mark Stagg, 47, from Meppershall, was killed when the bicycle he was riding was in collision with a Vauxhall Corsa on the southbound carriageway of the A6 at about 7.30am on Tuesday (December 16).

The driver of the Corsa suffered minor injuries.

Mr Stagg had worked for Bedforshire Police as a member of civilian staff for a number of years.

Chief Constable Colette Paul said: “The tragic death of Mark is incredibly sad.

“He was highly regarded by all who worked with him and he will be greatly missed.

“My thoughts and heartfelt sympathy go out to his family and colleagues who knew and worked with Mark.”

An inquest into his death was due to be opened this morning.

Anyone who witnessed the collision should call the Roads Policing Unit on 101.
