University helpers will be as good as gold at Olympics

THE University of Bedfordshire Olympic volunteers will have one of the largest university presences when the Games start this weekend.

More than 200 students and members of staff will be playing their part as security supervisors, administration staff, medical managers, and the chair of the British Handball Association – Prof John Brewer.

This week some of the staff proudly showed off their branded kits at the University’s Luton campus.

Prof Brewer said: “We are one of only a small number of universities invited by the Olympic organising committee to provide specialist volunteers for the Handball and Goalball tournaments. It’s a fantastic opportunity.”
