UPDATE: A505 Leighton Buzzard bypass reopens after several hours closure

Drivers were forced to avoid the A505 Leighton Buzzard bypass for several hours following a serious collision this morning.

At around 5.55am, a car left the road and landed into a ditch near Stanbridge.

One man in his 20s has been taken to Luton & Dunstable Hospital with serious injuries, although they are not thought to be life-threatening.

A Beds Police spokesman said: “Emergency services were at the scene and the road was closed in both directions between its junction with the A5 and first Eaton Bray junction.”

The road reopened at 12.56pm this afternoon.
