Beds Police were called to Overstone Road at 11.30pm yesterday where the woman was found dead, and the incident is now being treated as murder.
At a press conference this afternoon, DCI Adam Gallop implored members of the public to come forward with information.
DCI Gallop said there were “a number of elements” to the crime scene but could not confirm speculation that this was a botched burglary.
He said police are still liaising with the woman’s family.
