Children visited the site of an old Motte and Bailey castle and put their ears to the ground as the church clock struck midday to hear the witch.

This long-standing Shrove Tuesday tradition was rekindled by the Toddington Old Boys Association in 2011.

Last year’s trip up Conger Hill was cancelled because of the snow, but this year the tradition was thriving again with 60 children taking part.
