VIDEO: Dawn raid initiative will catch burglars

Though burglaries in the area have decreased, the police are upping efforts to prevent further break-ins by resolving outstanding warrants.

Officers visited houses in Luton and Dunstable, investigating as many as 19 warrants and making a number of arrests before breakfast time.

The police executed the warrants based on information received from members of the public and other agencies.

Det Insp Sean Quinn advised residents to take photographs of their valuable items – especially jewellery, as the price of gold has increased – to assist investigations should they fall foul of crime.

He also said: “If you were the victim of crime, or a member of your family had something sentimental stolen, they couldn’t replace, and they knew somebody had information that could assist the police, would they want that person to come forward and tell us? I’m sure the answer would be ‘yes’.”
