Lightning struck twice in Luton on Saturday when a block of flats and a house were both hit with a bolt.
Fire crews were called to a three-storey block of flats in Olympic Close at 4.08pm.
There was no fire and they made the building safe.
Just 20 minutes later, crews were called to a house in Sharpenhoe Road in Barton Le Clay where lightning had struck again.
No one was hurt in the incidents but the storm was strong enough to stop play at Kenilworth Road, with both sets of players and management fleeing to the safety of the dressing room when hail hit.
Sports reporter Mike Simmonds said the pitch was boggy and heavily sanded in parts, and the play was paused for around 10 minutes before referee Adam Bromley brought the teams back out.
Hatters’ Cameron McGeehan said: “It was unbelievable, I’ve never had anything like that before, it (hailstones) were hitting you in the face and it’s hurting so you had to run off as quick as you can.”
Despite the storm the Hatters enjoyed a 3-0 victory over Nuneaton Town.
