VIDEO: St Patrick's Day parade in Luton

It's become one of the leading attractions on the cultual calendar. And now that Luton Irish Forum has negotiated a parade route through the town centre, the St Patrick's day festival '“ celebrating Ireland's patron saint '“ has become even more popular.

Thousands flocked to cheer on the many floats representing everything from The Mayo Association and The Claddagh Gaels to NOAH Enterprise and Tokko Youth Space.

Walking groups included the Emerald and Bedfordshire University Pipe Bands, Promethidion Polish Children’s Group and Scoil Rince Realta (Irish Dancing School).

The March 19 parade finished at Market Hill where there were speeches from Luton Mayor Cllr Tahir Khan and Itrish Embassy first secretary Ruaidhri Dowling, followed by the traditional presentation of shamrocks to the dignitaries.

LIF chief officer Noelette Hanley said: “It was another fantastic celebration with great atmosphere, music and craic.”
