VIDEO: Whipsnade sealions are back with a splash!

WHIPSNADE Zoo has welcomed back its much-loved aquatic mammals, who splash back into action this weekend with their new show, ‘Sealion Splash Live!’

The Californian sealions have spent two months at ZSL London Zoo whilst their home at Whipsnade has been revamped.

This year, all five of the sealions will perform new tricks together, making sure the audience get soaked in the process.

Keeper Alex Pinnell said: “Two will be jumping at balls at the same time, and they’ll be splashing all the kids – they love it.”

This year’s show will also show how agile and intelligent they are, whilst offering an education into the differences between sealions and seals.

Salt is the oldest of the pack at 27, whilst Bailey, Dom, Lara and Kyra are all below five.

On training them, keeper Lisa Ayres said: “It’s easy because they’re all quite young and keen to learn.

“Their attention span isn’t very long so you’ve got that to contend with but they’re great to work with.”

The sealions will perform three shows a day at midday, 2pm and 4pm from March 31.
