TWO school girls are well on their way to becoming stars as they get ready to perform at Westminster Palace and a London 2012 Olympics concert this summer.

Nadine Turk, 17, from Luton and Lizzie Bollada, 15, from Caddington, are both members of musical theatre song and dance troupe West End Kids.

They performed at West End Live in Trafalgar Square in London on Saturday June 18 and are now preparing for a show at Westminster in front of 600 Members of Parliament and Commonwealth representatives on July 26.

Nadine, who has been part of the troupe since April last year, said: “It was really fun performing at Trafalgar Square and it was a good experience being on stage alongside professional west end stars.

“I can’t wait for the next concerts, July is going to be the busiest we have ever been. The material is not completely new so we know what we are doing which is good, we are just polishing the routines now.

“The good thing about West End Kids is that we get to perform more unusual styles of dance that you might not get to do at your dance school, and we revamp old styles like 1920s dance the Charleston.

“We change our routines depending on the event and the audience, and for performing at Westminster in front of the Prime Minister we are going to do a best of British theme including songs from the musical We Will Rock You.”

The girls have both always been interested in the arts and are keen to pursue careers in musical theatre.

Lizzie said: “I love performing and being in front of an audience of 10,000 people was amazing. All the rehearsing takes a lot of dedication but it’s worth it, West End Kids are becoming well known now and it’s really exciting to be on stage with professional West End performers.”

As well as the Westminster performance, West End Kids will be at the televised One Year To Go concert for the 2012 Olympic Games.

West End Kids founder and artistic director Martin Williams said: “The whole company is absolutely buzzing about these two performances. They are the most exciting, high profile events the company has ever been invited to perform at.”

West End Kids will be holding auditions for new recruits on Sunday September 10 in central London, if you would like to apply go to www.westendkids.co.uk or the West End Kids Facebook page or call Martin on 0208 123 2025.
