Windcharmers not fazed by weather

The weather may have been against them, but people taking part in the third annual windcharming pageant at Dunstable Downs carried on regardless – with true Brit grit.

The children really got into the spirit of the adventure as they accompanied mums and dads dressed in costumes covered with floaty strips containing messages of hope and inspiration.

And their youthful enthusiasm and boundless energy wasn’t dampened by the heavy downpour as they tried to get a giant kite-like structure up into the air.

The festival is the inspiration of French installation arist Laurence Payot, who sees it as a magical way of bringing people together and creating a brand new tradition.

She said: “We focused on becoming part of the wind together – everyone who was there became part of a beautiful collective visual performance.”
