Woman trapped in car after collision in Luton

Police are investigating a hit and run collision in Luton which left a woman trapped in her car yesterday.

The crash took place on the corner of Crescent Road and Crescent Rise at around 8.30am.

A black Seat Ibiza had collided with a white Vauxhall Vivaro van which left the scene.

Beds Fire and Rescue Service were called half an hour later as the woman remained trapped inside the Ibiza.

A spokesman said: “When [firefighters] arrived just seven minutes later they found an road traffic collision involving two vehicles that had left a female casualty trapped in the black Ibiza.

“Firefighters freed the woman from the vehicle using hydraulic cutting equipment and she was taken to hospital by the ambulance service suffering from with non-serious injuries.

“The incident was closed at 9.47am.”

PC Ryan Coomber said: “This is usually a busy street at this time of a day and police are asking all witnesses to come forward.

“We are especially keen to speak with the driver of the white van who left the scene and is described as an Asian man in his late 20s.”
