Work on G4S plans to continue

Police are to press ahead with plans for shamed security firm G4S to take over a number of back office functions.

Police chiefs from Beds, Herts and Cambridgeshire voiced concerns following the Olympics security debacle.

But after a meeting last week, work to develop a ‘full business case’ to outsource to G4S is to continue.

A spokesman said: “This will be completed over the next few months, ready for consideration and a decision by the Chief Constables in conjunction with the incoming police and crime commissioners.”
