Work opportunities for disabled

Luton Borough Council, the Police and Luton Adult Learning are working in partnership to provide people with a learning disability the opportunity to get valuable work experience.

Through the council’s New Horizons supported employment service, anyone with a learning disability is being offered work experience with the Police, as part of the Apprentice Steps programme.

Six trainees have already started in areas such as community cohesion and keep safe. As well as getting a feel for working life, trainees will also be able to improve communication skills and increase their confidence.
