Would you Adam and Eve it? Brasserie is in The Good Food Guide

A TEMPTING menu featuring seared scallops, haggis beignet and pea shoots has won Adam’s Brasserie (right) at Luton Hoo a place in the coveted Good Food Guide.

The Brasserie is situated in the old coach house and stables building which was designed by renowned 18th Century architect Robert Adam. The ground floor eaterie – which hosts popular jazz brunches on Sundays – has comfortable leather banquettes, plush carpets and imposing chandeliers.

The walls are lined with stills from the various movies and TV programmes – such as Four Weddings and a Funeral and Little Dorrit – that have been shot on the historic estate.

The Mansion House is now a five star hotel which also boasts the Wernher Restaurant, named after South African diamond magnate Sir Julius Wernher who bought the estate in 1903 and turned it into a country seat befitting one of the richest men in the country.

Both restaurants use as much locally sourced produce as possible, with some herbs and vegetables grown on the estate.

This is the first time Luton Hoo has been mentioned in the authoritative guide, celebrating its 60th year.

The Good Food Guide is published by Which? Books and will be on sale from September 8 at a price of £16.99.
