YOUR chance to have your say on health services

WOULD you like to have a say on how your local health services work?

The East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust (EEAST) is looking for new members and governors as they apply to become an NHS Foundation Trust, which will mean they can give local people a much greater say on their health services and how they develop.

More than 4,000 people have already signed up as members and the Trust is asking these members to consider becoming a governor.

Governors have a vitally important role and the Trust is looking for a range of people to bring their different skills and experience to the members council.

EEAST is holding a number of sessions across the region for all the Trust’s FT members who are interested in becoming a governor. These sessions will give an idea of what it means to be a governor, the responsibilities of the role, and answer any questions people might have.

These opportunities are open to current members, but people will have the time to sign up as a member, and then attend a session if they are keen to know more.

The governor role is voluntary and one that simply requires time and commitment.

Formalities include appointing the Trust’s chairman and non-executive directors, and it is their responsibility to represent members’ interests, particularly in relation to the strategic direction of the Trust.

Governors are there to challenge the Board of Directors and hold them to account for the Trust’s performance.

Governors are elected by members to represent their local community on the Members’ Council.

The Bedfordshire session is on Tuesday, November 8 between 5.30-6.30pm at St Mark’s Church Community Centre, Calder Rise, Bedford MK41 7UY.

If you are interested in attending, call 0800 028 3021 or email [email protected] to book a place.
