Sainsbury’s in Bury Park, Luton has presented its chosen local charity of the year with a cheque for £1,500.
The Local Charity scheme is now approaching its eighth year. This past year for the first time, customers got the chance to vote for their favourite charity from a shortlist put together by their local store.
Mark Muumbo, from Reach the Streetz, said: “We were delighted to have been chosen as the Sainsbury’s Luton Local Charity of Year back in May. The amount of money the store has raised with us has been fabulous. Thank you to all the customers that have supported us, your kindness and generosity is phenomenal”.
The Local Charity scheme has raised over £7 million to support local charities since 2009.
